A London wedding
I’ve wanted to perform at Trinity Buoy Wharf for in London years.
It’s not because of the spectacular view across the Thames - although that’s pretty cool:
Nor is it because the venue literally has it’s own lighthouse…
Nope… I’ve just always wanted to play underneath this mirror ball:
Just admit it… you love it as well.
Anyway, I digress! Tabassum and Michael are a marvellous couple who asked The Get Downs to come and perform for their wedding celebrations.
It was a wonderful day - and it was a huge pleasure to work alongside photography legends Lina & Tom. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen so many wonderful photos of just one wedding day!
Special requests
We love hearing couple’s special requests and we always do our best to accommodate them, however wierd and wonderful they may be.
Tabassum & Michael’s first request was pretty standard - Let’s Face the Music and Dance, for their first dance. It’s a song already in our repertoire (in fact we released a video of us performing it in lockdown which received nearly 1 million views across all social channels) and it’s a song that we are always delighted to play.
However, Tabassum & Michael very nearly had us stumped with their second request - Rasputin. For some reason (which, we admit, we never quite got to the bottom of) it was a very important song for their crowd - so we learnt it, and my goodness did it raise the roof when we performed it.
It really was a party to remember and we loved being part of it. We can’t wait to be back at Trinity Buoy Wharf - and to perform underneath that amazing mirror ball - very soon!
