A Mayfair wedding with The Get Downs
London is full of spectacular venues, and they don’t come much better than the iconic Mayfair Hotel, Claridge's. It was a very special day, captured in fantastic detail by photographer Nick Tucker who has kindly allowed us to share these images.
For their Claridge's wedding reception, Hannah and Rory choose to book one of Mike Paul-Smith Music’s wedding music packages - where we take care of most of the music for the day, from the drinks reception until carriages at midnight.
Arrival and set up
Hannah and Rory were getting married at a separate venue (St. John's Church in Hyde Park). Whilst their ceremony was happening we arrived at their famous wedding reception venue to set up for the two musical line-ups performing that day - our party band The Get Downs, and our jazz duo The Jazz Essentials.
Drinks reception
The guests were transported from the church to Claridge's on iconic London Routemaster buses, entering through the famous ballroom doors to be greeted by live subtle yet sophisticated instrumental jazz music from our duo The Jazz Essentials.
The first dance
After an amazing meal and wedding speeches, Hannah and Rory took to the dance floor for their first dance. They had choreographed a routine to our music which everyone loved and then they got the guests up to join them on the dancefloor.
Evening reception: live music
Then it was on to more live music and dancing with our versatile party band The Get Downs.
The dancefloor was full right from the start, and in fact photographer Nick said…
"the dancing shots are some of my favourite to date. Everyone was having a blast!"
The great thing about our party band The Get Downs is that it has an enormous and varied repertoire list. The band plays swing, jive and big band music from the 30s, 40s and 50s; soul and Motown music from the 60s and 70s; and pop and disco music from the 80s to the present day.
Performing such a wide range of music means there is something for everyone, and we get all ages and generations on the dancefloor for a fantastic party (as you can see from these photos!).
A few months later we caught up with Hannah & Rory, and here's what they had to say about our performance:
